Playwright (b. Ankara, 1930 – d. 28 September
2013, Ankara). He graduated from Ankara Atatürk Lisesi and Ankara University,
Faculty of Law. After working as a teacher for a while, he went to Germany and
studied at Köln Institute of Theatre Studies for s year (1955-56). He worked at
Ankara State Theatre and Press Studies Institute. He became the vice Press
Ambassador of Bonn (1960-62) and later, worked at the Turkish Radio Television
Corporation. He served as the general director at the State Theatre, as a
lecturer at Ege University, Faculty of Fine Arts (1979) and as the general
director of State Theatres (1982-86).
After his first
play “Masum Katiller” (Innocent
Murderers) was staged and praised at the State Theatre (1951), he gave up his
short story studies and paid all his efforts for plays. He was selected the
best playwright of 1968 by Ankara Art Devotees Association with his play Sarıpınar 1914 (The Yellow Fountain
1914) which was written with the inspiration of Reşat Nuri Güntekin’s novel Değirmen (The Mill). He won the first
rank award at Turkey İş Bank Theatre Play Competition in 1979 with his work Fehim Paşa Konağı (The Mansion of Fehim
Paşa). He won the 1983 İsmet Küntay Award with his work Resimli Osmanlı Tarihi (The History of Ottoman Empire with
Illustrations) and the second rank in 1984 Enka Art Award with his work Bir Şehnaz Oyun (A Şehnaz Play).
