Statesman and scientist, the
director at Religious Works Directorate. He was born on January 1st,
1959, Nizip/Gaziantep. He completed the primary school in Nizip and secondary
school in Gaziantep. After graduating from Ankara University’s Religious
Studies Faculty (1987); he made researches with the state scholarship in Cairo
University in 1988 for one year. He completed his master thesis on the “Life and Works of Musa Carullah Bigiyef” in the department of hadith at Ankara
University’s Religious Studies Faculty (1990). He continued to doctorate degree
majoring on “The Methodology Problem in Understanding and Interpretation of
Sunna and Hadith” in the Institute of Social Sciences at Ankara University (1995).
He was deemed worthy of the first prize given for the Islam Studies by the
Turkish Religious Foundation. He worked as officer in the Directorate of
Religious Works in Kırıkkale and Ankara.
He gave lectures at Ahmet Yesevi
University (1995-97); Faculty of Education of Hacettepe University (2001-2003)
and participated to the founding activities of the Upper Secondary Program on
Religious Studies at Anadolu University as well as lecturing. He worked as a
lecturer in England (1997-1998) and Atatürk University’s Religious Studies
Department. He became assistant professor at 1998 and associate professor at
1999 and professor at 2006. Between 2001 and 2003, he gave lectures at Faculty
of Education of Hacettepe University.
Beginning from 13.08.2003, he served
for the Directorate of Religious Affairs as vice-director for seven years. He
was assigned as the director of the Directorate of Religious Affairs on 11th
November 2010. Having many published works, he is married and the father of
three children. He also speaks Arabian and English.
He presented papers in scientific
meetings both in the country and abroad. Beginning from 2002, his articles have
been published on compilation books and on the books of symposium books on
religious life in multicultural societies, amendment, women’s problems in
today’s world. He took part in the editorial board of the İslamiyat (Islamism) magazine.
