Researcher and writer (b. 1956, Taşlıca village / Akseki / Antalya). He attended Akseki Taşlıca Village Primary School and graduated from Aksu Teacher Training School (1974) and Hacettepe University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1979). He worked at the same university. His graduate thesis was Ali Zelilî / Niyâzü'l-Müznibîn (Ali Zelili / Praying of the Sinful, 1979) and his master’s thesis was Taşlıcalı Yahya Bey Divanı'nda Kozmik Unsurlar (Cosmic Elements in the Divan* of Yahya from Taşlıca, 1981); his doctorate thesis was Hayalî Bey Divanı'nın Tahlili (Analysis of the Divan* of Hayali Bey, 1984). He became associate professor in 1989 and professor in 1995. He has been an instructor at Gazi University, Department of Turkish Language and Literature since 1986.
His first poem Balık Muştusu (Fish News) was published in the newspaper Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket (1959, issue: 9, page. 59). His poems were published in the journals Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket (1974-76), Ülkü Pınarı (1976-77), Divan (1979-80), Töre (1981-82), Millî Kültür ve Eğitim (1982), Doğuş (1982-84); his articles were published in the journals Dolunay (1987), Türk Kültürü (1983-95), Millî Kültür (1984-90), Türk Kültürü Araştırmaları (1984-96), Türk Yurdu (1987-90), Millî Eğitim (1988-89), Türk Edebiyatı (1989), Yedi İklim (1993, 95), Millî Folklor (1990-93), Dergâh (1990-96), Türk Dili (1995-96), Journal of Turkish Studies (1995). With his book Halk ve Divan Şiirinin Müşterekleri Üzerine Denemeler (Essays on the Common Points of Folk and Divan* Poems, 1990) he won the Writers Union of Turkey Essay Award.
