Azeri writer (B. 1812, Nuha / Azerbaijan – D. 1878).
His father, Mirza Muhammet is from Hamle town of Tabriz. He was grown up under the protection
of his uncle Ahund Alaskar. He received Arabic and Persian lectures from Ahund
Molla Hüseyin and continued with his education in a Russian school. He worked
as an interpreter in governmental institutions and worked as a teacher in Tbilisi for five years.
He travelled around many countries in Russia,
Europe and East because of his duty. Ahundov
is one of the foremost representatives of the period in the second half of 19th
century when literature became more public-tended; and he is also among the
founders of modern Azerbaijan
literature. His saga named Puşkin’in
Ölümü is one of his most important works.
