Historian of literature and poet (b. 1899, İstanbul - d. 18 December 1967). He attended the Galatasaray High School (1908), and graduated from the School of Law (1911). He worked as a civil officer at the clerk of Administration of Foreign Debts, and as a teacher of literature at Galatasaray High School and Robert College (1914), as the assistant-headmaster at Kadıköy High School (1915), headmaster at Ankara High School for Girls, teacher of literature at Atatürk Institute, headmaster at Cyprus High School for Girls, as an inspector at ministry and as a civil officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He gave lectures on Turkish literature for four years at Baku University, where he went on invitation. He worked as a teacher at high schools on his return and retired when he was a professor at İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Old Turkish Literature (1958). He was one of the recent famous historians of literature.

POETRY: Kır Çiçekleri (Flowers on the Step, 1915).

PLAY: Hesab İmtihanı (Exam of Accounts, piece in verse, 1917).
