Soldier, statesman. (B. 1886, Edirne- D. Istanbul, 1962.) He graduated
from War Academy in 1908 as staff captain. He took
part in Eastern Front during the First World War (1914-1917). Then he worked as
intelligence and political branch director in the staff council of Mustafa
Kemal. He was elected as the Member of Parliament, moved to Ankara after the
invasion of Istanbul and participated in the works of TGNA as Trabzon Deputy.
He received the Gerede surname from
Ataturk because of his success to suppress the Bolu Revolt. He quit from
military during the Republic and worked as ambassador in Budapest, Sofia,
Tehran, Tokyo, Berlin and Rio de Janeiro. He worked hard to strengthen
Turkish-Japanese and Turkish-German friendship during his position as an
ambassador. He was Urfa deputy between 1934 and 1936 and Sivas deputy between
1942 and 1947.
