Poet and writer (b. 1 July 1930,
Pınarbaşı / Kayseri – d. 4 August 2005, İstanbul). His real name is Osman Nuri
Doğan and his pen name is Kasırgaoğlu. He has also used Âbâd Osman, Kasırga
Onurdal, Osman Gazioğlu, Osman Kemal, Numan Evranos, Nuri Doğan and Onur Dolu
as pen names. He attended Pınarbaşı Primary School (1943), Ankara Gazi High
School (1951) and graduated from the Academy of Ankara, Economics and
Commercial Studies (1970). He worked for thirty-nine years at the Ankara Mechanical
and Chemical Industries Corporation and retired in 1939 when he was working as
the credit manager. The same year he moved to İstanbul and continued his
studies and life in the city.
His first poem Işığa Doğru (Towards the Light) was
published in the local newspaper Kızılırmak
in Sivas when he was a student at elementary school in 1942. His other works
were published in the newspapers and reviews such as Yayla (1942), Erciyes
(1940's), Kaynak (1950's), Varlık (1954), Dost (1960's), Türk Dili
(1980's), Türk Dili Dergisi (1990's),
Türkiye Yazıları (1970's), Yordam (1966), Pazar Postası (1958), Dönem
(1963) and in the review Özün (24
issues, May 1971-April 1973), which he published himself. In 1949 he was tried
for his first poetry book Toygan,
under the articles 141 and 142 of the criminal code but he was acquitted. He is
a member of the Turkish Authors Association and the Writers Syndicate of
Turkey.
