Writer
(b. 16 April 1940, Kırklareli). His full name is Sıtkı Mehmet Erinç. He
completed his elementary and secondary education in Ankara and attended the
İstanbul Kabataş High School (1956). He graduated from Ankara University,
Faculty of Political Sciences 1963). He completed his master (1974) and
doctorate studies (1982) at Hacettepe University, Institute of Social Sciences.
He became an assistant professor in the same university (1985) and the head of
department at the Faculty of Fine Arts (1985), and an associate professor in
1988. He passed to Anadolu University, Faculty of Fine Arts in 1993, received
professorship in 1994, and retired in 2002. During his years at the university,
he gave undergraduate and graduate lectures on aesthetics, history of culture,
philosophy of arts, contemporary arts and its interpretation.
He
continues working as a lecturer in the faculties of Fine Arts and Education at
Anadolu University in Eskişehir. His essays and criticisms on aesthetics,
culture and arts were published in the reviews Artist, Milliyet Sanat,
Hürriyet Gösteri, Anadolu Sanat, Sanat Çevresi, Frankofoni, Dekorasyon, Cogito,
Eğitim, Türkiye’de Sanat, Tobav, Review of Turkish Studies, the newspaper Cumhuriyet
and in the books Bilge Karasu İçin (For Bilge Karasu, 1996) and Bilge
Karasu Aramızda (Bilge Karasu Among Us, 1997) after 1986. He gave
conferences on culture and arts, and presented communiqués. He received the
Premio Internazionale “Foyer Des Artistes” Roma Award in 1997. He isa member of
the Turkish Philosophical Society, the Turkish Arts Society, the Turkish
Society of Artlovers, and the Turkish Society of Visual Arts.
