Poet and writer (b. 15 January 1949, İstanbul). He
attended the İstanbul Büyük Esma Sultan Elementary School (1960), the Kabataş
High School for Boys (1966), and graduated from Middle East Technical
University (1970). He completed his master studies at the same university
(1973). He worked as a high engineer of mining in Germany (1971), Italy (1977),
the United States (1978), Canada (1985) and at the Institute for Mineralogy
(1970-2003). He is a member of the Professional Association of Scientific and
Literary Work Owners of Turkey, and the Turkish Society of Poets and
Poetry-lovers.
His first story titled “Yıldızları Beklerken” (Waiting for the Stars) was published in the
review Çağrı (January 1968). His other works were published in
reviews Türk
Dili,Çağdaş Türk Dili, Damar, İnsancıl, Varlık, Yazıt, Dil Dergisi, Abece,
Üçüncü Öyküler, Gırgır, Bay (Yugoslavia), Şafak (Greece), Kafdağı (Germany),
Mehsati (Azerbaijan), Adam Öykü, Ana, Beşparmak,
Aykırısanat, Eflatun, Ozan, Ekin and İspinoz.
He
exhibited his poems in English, which he published in the review Ana, together
with his other poems. He collected the Jury's Special Award at the Sweden EUCH
Short Story Awards in 1992 with two short stories, the Jury Special Award at
the TTB Short Story Awards in 1996 and ranked the third at the TTB Short Story
Awards in 1998. His poem with the title Hoş Gör Beni Bodrum (Excuse Me
Bodrum) ranked second at the competition held by the Municipality of Bodrum
(September, 2001) and was published in the review Bodrumlife the same
year. He also ranked second at the Commentary Competition (August, 2001) with
his poem Sönmesin Bu Yangın (This Fire shall not Be Over). Some of his
poems were included in the album of Nedret Selçuker (2001-Sesli Şiir
Antolojisi - 2001- Anthology of Sound Recorded Poems). His short story with
the title Işıkların Ötesi (Beyond the Lights) ranked first at the Samim
Kocagöz Short Story Competition in 2002.
