Philosopher (b. 1952, Karaören village
/ Şabanözü / Çankırı). He completed his primary education in his hometown and
secondary education at Ankara Balkiraz High School. Because he was not happy
there, he discontinued his studies at Hacettepe University, Department of
French Language and Literature where he had entered with High School diploma.
He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Divinity in 1973 with a
scholarship from the Ministry of Education, with his graduate thesis on Bergson
philosophy. After having worked as a teacher for ten years as reimbursement for
his scholarship, he worked as a specialist at the Instruction and Training
Committee of the Ministry of Education and the Presidency State Inspection
Committee. He left his “institutional office” with a press conference in late
1998 and chose “working independently”.
Apart from his state duties, he has
focused on specific problem fields since the second half of 1970’s. His
articles on science, culture and history philosophy, essays and critiques have
been published in the reviews such as Fikir
ve Sanat Hareket, Felsefe Dünyası,
Düşünce and Mavera.
He has made scientific critiques of
positivism, Marxism, Freudism etc. in his first book Sınıfsız Dünya (World Without Class, 1978). During this period, he
won the Writers Union of Turkey Award (1983) with his book İnanç ve Kültür (Belief and Culture, 1983). Then, he experienced a
“paradigm break” and wrote his other works.
He was seen on national philosophy
platforms for a long time. He has given papers at the many philosophical
symposiums that received place in Ankara. He contributed to the Nationalism (2002) and Conservatism (2003) volumes of the Türkiye’de Siyasi Düşünce Dizisi
(Political Thought in Turkey Series) that was published by İletişim
Publications. He was a member of the Ministry of Culture Publication
Consultation Committee (1986- 89). He participated in the work of the State
Planning Department, Culture Specialists Commission (1983- 86). He has been a
member of the Philosophical Society of Turkey since its foundation, and the
Turkey Science Committee.
