Ahmet Emin Atasoy

Poet. He was born in Tırgovişte (Eskicuma)-Krepça / Bulgaria, in May 16, 1944. After he completed his high school education in Popov (1962), he began with his higher education in Sumen (Şumnu) Higher Education Institute and completed his education in Sofia University Turkology Department. He had worked as a teacher in his village for a long time. He worked in Sofia Radio Turkish Department for a short time. Because of prohibition of Turkish Education (1972), he has worked as a Bulgarian teacher for a long time. For a few years he worked as a reporter in Tırgoviştr City for Yeni Hayat-Nov Jivot journal. He could not stand away from the oppressions against Turkish Intellectuals (especially 1985-86 years). He was arrested, interrogated, stayed under investigation. He moved to Turkey with the 1989 immigration. He settled in Bursa and worked as a teacher.

He was well known in the literature circles with his poem published in Yeni Işık newspaper in 1960. His writings were then published in the newspapers of Halk Gençliği and Puls/ Nabız and he was also the Tırgovişte province reporter of monthly culture and art journal Yeni Hayat / Nov Jivot, which was published in Turkish and in Bulgarian. He was in charge of art and literature in monthly literature art culture and education journal Tuna, in Istanbul. He translated many works from Bulgarian and Russian poems.  After he wrote his poems in syllabic meter for a long time, he internalized free form. His poems, articles and translations were published in such journals as; Cumhuriyet Kitap, Çağdaş Türk Dili Bahçe, Bursa’da Yaşam, Düşlem, Kavram-Karmaşa, Lül, Öner Sanat, Tömer, Türk Dili, Yaba Edebiyat, also in many foreign  newspapers and journals.
