Journalist- writer (B. 1934 – D. May 6, 2004,
Istanbul). He is the son of Ismail Hakki Bey, one of the first Muslim
pharmacists of Istanbul.
He began with his journalism career in Son
Saat newspaper (1954) as the culture and arts reporter. He worked as the
managing editor and executive editor in newspapers such as Son Baskı,
Hürriyet, Günaydın, Gün, Yeni Ortam, Son Havadis and Tercüman from 1960 onwards. He worked in TGC Honorary
Committee and Journalists’ Social Solidarity Foundation. As his father was a
close friend of Neyzen Tevfik; he had the chance to evaluate this mysterious
man in the last four years of his life with a view of journalism. He wrote
about the final years of Neyzen, as most of the things written about him were
only rumors on that time. He received the Journalists’ Union Successful
Journalist Awards 1993 research award. He was the honorary council member of
Journalists’ Association of Turkey. His tomb is at Edirnekapı Şehitliği.
