Tahsin Şentürk

Gazeteci, Yazar, Şair

Poet (b. 1948, Somay village / Çatalzeyin / Kastamonu). He attended primary school in his village and elementary and high school in Karabük. He chose printing and journalism as his profession. He printed the review Karabük for 2 years (1970-71) and was editor of the art review Pota and started to produce the newspaper Çatalzeytin with E. Türkay Öztürk.

His poems have been published in reviews such as Varlık, Akbaba, Genç Kalemler, Türk Dili, Mad, Hisar, Ajans Türk, Yelken, Güney, Millî Kültür, Yazko Edebiyat, Şiir Defteri, Antoloji, Yusufçuk, Milliyet Çocuk, Dönemeç and Oluşum and in newspapers such as Cumhuriyet, Hürriyet and Milliyet.

He wrote about environment protection and social corruption in his humorous poems. He came first in a competition held by the newspaper Hürriyet with Güleriz Ağlanacak Halimize (We Smile Whereas We Had to Cry) in 1971 and in 2000 he was selected as the West Black Sea Artist of the Year. He has also won awards in photography and athletics. He has written various columns in newspapers such as Cumhuriyet, Milliyet and Hürriyet. He is still writing for his column “Taş Gibi”(Like A Stone) in the newspaper Gözcü.
