Atilla Şentürk

Researcher of literature (b. 24 September 1958, İstanbul). His full name is Ahmet Atilla Şentürk. He attended 50^th Yıl Yeşilköy High School (1976) and graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1980). He entered the same faculty as an assistant in 1983 and became a doctor there (1987). He participated in the study on “Edebî Metinler Işığında Osmanlıda Gündelik Hayat” (Daily Life in the Ottoman Empire according to Literary Texts) at the Ohio State University, Department of Near East Languages and Literature in the United States between 1991 and 1993. In 1993 he became an associate professor and a professor in 2000. He continued his studies as a lecturer at the Department of Ancient Turkish Literature at the same university.

Between 1994 and 1995, he was a member of the Atatürk Culture, Language and History Higher Association, the Commission for Literary Terminology in the Literature of the Turkish World. After 1995, he worked as the editor of the review Osmanlı Araştırmaları.

His graduate thesis was “Tahirü'l-Mevlevî'nin Hayatı ve Eserleri” (The Life and Works of Tahirü’l-Mevlevi). His doctorate thesis was “Başlangıçtan XVI. Asra Kadar Anadolu Sahası Mesnevîlerinde Edebî Tasvirler” (Literary Descriptions in Anatolian Rhyming Couplet Poems from the Beginning until 16th Century). His articles have been published in the reviews Tarih ve Toplum, Türk Dili, İstanbul Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Dergisi, Dergâh, Osmanlı Araştırmaları, Bir and in collaborative books since 1988.
