Journalist, writer (b. 1928, Istanbul - d. 16 November 2015, Istanbul). Her
mother was the first woman council member of Turkey, Mihriban Umar. She
completed primary school in Nişantaşı

Primary School. She left Üsküdar American College
for Girls after receiving seven years of education. After attending Arnavutköy College for Girls for a while, she
dropped out of school. He received typing training. She gave Turkish lessons to
the officials at American Consulate between the years 1950-55. She entered Bosfor
Turizm Company as being a partner with journalist Feyyaz Tokar using her inheritance
from her father.
When she was about seven years old, she
published a newspaper that she named Yedi
Cüce. She was editor-in-chief of a newspaper that they were published when
they were at Üsküdar
American College
of Girls. Her official journalist career had started at the newspaper Milliyet in 1955. She worked at BBC in London. In 1977, she
retired from the newspaper Milliyet. She
worked as freelance journalist after retirement. Her interviews with famous people of the world
such as Julio Iglesias, Kirk Douglas, Diana Ross, Lisa Minelli and the
politicians such as Nelson Mandela, Carlos Menem, Arafat, Khomeini, Raisa
Gorbachova, and Felipe Gonzalez were published in forty two countries of the
world through the agencies of GAMMA and SIPA. Her second marriage was with
Refik Erduran who was a journalist and playwright; however, this marriage did
not last long. She was member of Istanbul Writers Association. She had a book
named Geriye Yazılar Kaldı... (2005).
