Ottoman historian (B ?- D 1764, ?). He was known by his historical work about Patrona Rebellion. The information about his life was obtained from his own work. According to some sources he became the sealer of Ahmed III between 1753 and 64 years. He became the head of stenographers multiple times. It is not certainly known who the poet Abdi was among the several Abdis lived in the same era. Abdi Efendi’s Book named as Târîh-i Sultan Mahmud Han İbn Sultan Mustafa Han, but mostly known as Abdi’s History is a monographic work. The copy of Abdi’s History in Süleymaniye Library, was published by Faik Reşit Unat.
“It narrates the Patrona Rebellion vividly from beginning to smother. The work, which was written by a person who had experienced the events of the era personally, is an original source for getting the personal observations; at the same time this work completes the given information about the event in the work of Destârî Sâlih and History of Sâmî. Besides, at the same time there is information about Iran war among the 1142 events (1729-30).” (Abdülkadir Özcan)
