Biyografya in Sources and Data

Wikipedia does not accept unsourced information. Across 37 language editions, 2,471 encyclopedia articles base their content on Biyografya. The count was made through Wikipedia's public API, over encyclopedia articles only, with each article counted once.

In the last 12 months, 3,963 visits came to Biyografya from Wikipedia: 2,166 from the Turkish edition, 860 from English, 429 from German. Readers follow the footnote to the source itself.

Wikidata is the open knowledge graph behind Wikipedia and many AI systems. It carries the identifier fields that tell machines who a person is: VIAF for library catalogues, ORCID for academics, film databases for cinema. Biyografya has its own field in that graph: Biyografya ID (P7023).

ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and Perplexity read the Biyografya page when answering a question about a person, and send the reader there. Google Analytics counts these visits separately by the assistants' domains.

Google Search Console reports to a site's owner how often the site appeared on Google and at which position. In the last 12 months Biyografya pages appeared 265 million times in Google results and were clicked 3.7 million times. Position here is calculated against every site on the results page, including Wikipedia, news sites, Instagram, LinkedIn and X. Biyografya ranks first for 7,116 searches and in the top three for 28,457.

87% of clicks come from Turkey, the rest from 212 countries and territories. Next come Germany, Azerbaijan, the United States, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Austria, Cyprus and Belgium: the Turkish-speaking community in Europe makes Biyografya's second market.

Biyografya is Turkey's biography platform, published under editorial control for 11 years on a 40-year encyclopaedia heritage. The printed form of that heritage is the body of biographical dictionaries and encyclopaedias by its founder, the encyclopaedist İhsan Işık: the eleven-volume Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Turkish Men of Letters and Culture (Resimli ve Metin Örnekli Türkiye Edebiyatçılar ve Kültür Adamları Ansiklopedisi), the six-volume Encyclopaedia of Turkey's Famous People, the five-volume Diyarbakır Encyclopaedia, the three-volume Turkish Writers Encyclopaedia, Famous Names in Our History of Science and Thought, and the Writers' Dictionary. The Turkish Writers Encyclopaedia and the Encyclopaedia of Turkey's Famous People were also published in English, as Encyclopedia of Turkish Authors and Encyclopedia of Turkey's Famous People.
