The Writers' Union of Türkiye, of which he was a member, announced his

Another leaf has fallen from our poem!
"Even a leaf leaves when it realizes that it has turned
yellow," said Süreyya Berfe and went to eternity.
First of all, Berfe, who started out as one of the innovative and
resilient poets of the 60s. Later, he wrote about social and individual themes
in his subtle language. He dealt with nature and the loneliness of man in
nature and society in a sincere, lyrical language.
The words he left to our poetry will make it eternal.
My condolences to our poetry and its readers.”
