Hüseyin Ferhad was born in a village of Hatay called Hassa in 1954. He completed elementary and secondary school in Hassa. In 1972; he graduated from Mersin Elementary School Teachers’ Collage. He served as an elementary school teacher in Urfa for two years. He graduated from Gazi University, Department of Mathematics in 1979. He later worked as a radio program writer and also an administrator at the Centre of Education With Film-Radio-Television in Ankara for twelve years. In 1991, he moved to Adana. He occupied with trading business and teaching Math at schools. He moved first to İstanbul in 2014 and then to İzmir. He is the father of Dicle Hameş.

His first poems were published by Sanat Emeği literary magazine in 1978. This is followed by other poems and articles which were published by literary magazines such as Somut, Türk Dili, Varlık, Yarın, Yazko Edebiyat, Broy, Adam Sanat, Yeni Biçem, Edebiyat ve Eleştiri, Kitap-lık, Geceyazısı, Yasakmeyve, Kaşgar, Akatalpa, Sözcükler and CazKedisi.

Some of his poems were translated into French, Dutch, German, Bulgarian, Kurdish, Arabic and Persian languages.

His Awards: Yaşar Nabi Nayır Poetry Prize 1984, Yunus Nadi Poetry Prize 1994, Golden Orange Poetry Prize 2001, Hüseyin Gazi Vakfı ‘Contribution to Poetry’ Award 2009, Golden Daphne Literature Prize 2018.
