Caricaturist,
theatre and movie actor (B. 11 November 1929, Erzurum – D. 2 May 1988, Istanbul). Since his father was a military officer
he completed his primary and secondary education in various cities of
He started
theatre as an amateur with the play titled Bir
Evlenme which was staged in 1955 in Cep Theatre. His
first professional acting was during the piece titled Teyzesi which was staged in Dormen Theatre (1958). Here he
took part in many plays such as Kamp 17, Cengiz Han’ın Bisikleti and Bit Yeniği. Erbulak appeared
in stage in the opera Midas’ın Kulakları.
In 1971 he established the Çevre Theatre with Metin Serezli. There he
showed the plays Yüzsüz Zühtü and Deli Deli Kulakları Küpeli. Starting
from the 1980s the artist served as actor and director in various theatre
groups. With his comedy type-castings and imitation skills he received the
awards of İlhan İskender in 1961 and İsmail Dümbüllü in 1982. Erbulak who
joined TV education courses in BBC produced programs for TRT such as Alıngan Gemisi and Deneme Televizyonu. He acted in numerous movies in cinema and
received awards. After his death his wife Füsun and daughters Ayşe and Sevinç
Erbulak organized an award in his name titled “Altan Erbulak Prize” to be given
to the most successful actor of the year.
