Poet
(b. ?, İstanbul - d. 1848). She was the daughter of Moralızade Hamit Efendi,
the chief military judge. Influenced by her uncle, the poet, Keçecizade İzzet
Molla, she started writing. Her obscene poetry was not welcomed at the time and
rumors about her circulated. Her marriage lasted only a week and the government
gave her a monthly payment of one hundred and fifty piasters, because of the
economical problems she was faced with (1840). Certain sources indicate that
she joined the Mevlevi Dervish order and wrote theosophical poems. Her grave is
in Galata Mevlevi Dervish lodge. Her Divan* has been published twice (1844,
Bulak, second edition, 1851).
