Pedagogue and writer (b. 1902, Bolu – d. 11 May 1971, İstanbul). He also used the pen name Zahide Durur. He completed his primary and secondary education in Bolu. He worked as a teacher of history and director at elementary and high schools in Giresun, Bolu, Gaziantep and Artvin and at the Ankara State Conservatory (1937). He was elected Bolu parliamentary deputy twice (1950 and 1957). He was a board member of the National Reassurance Committee (1954) and established Danışman Publishing House. He is buried in Zincirlikuyu Graveyard.

He wrote textbooks and historical novels. He did simplifications from the Ottoman language.

STUDY-RESEARCH: Üskübi Harabeleri (Skopje Ruins, 1934), Çamlar ve Göller Ülkesi (The Land of Pine Trees and Lakes, 1935), Osmanlı İmparatorluğu Tarihi (History of the Ottoman Empire, in 14 volumes, 1964-66), Büyük İslâm Tarihi (Great Islamic History, in 3 volumes, 1967).

SHORT STORY: İşitilmemiş Hikâyeler (The Unheard Stories, 1939).

NOVEL: Cellat Çeşmesi (The Executioner’s Fountain, 1953), Lala Mustafa Paşa (Lala Mustafa Paşa, 1957), Balak Gazi (Balak Gazi, 1958), Peçeli İmparatoriçe (The Veiled Empress, 1958), Kahramanlar Geçidi (The Parade of Heroes, 1958).

SIMPLIFICATION: Naima Tarihi (Naima’s History, in 6 volumes 1967-68), Evliya Çelebi Seyahatnamesi (Travel Book of Evliya Çelebi, in 10 volumes, 1969-70), Koçi Bey Risalesi (The Book of Koçi Bey, 1972).
