Mehmet Barlas
Journalist-author (b. 1941, in Ankara - d. 2 June 2023, Şişli / Istanbul). He is the son of Cemil Sait Barlas who was minister of economy, state minister and parliament member and husband of journalist Canan Barlas. He graduated from Ankara Atatürk High School and Istanbul University Faculty of Law (1968).
He started journalism in Pazar Postası newspaper founded by his father. He started professional journalism as foreign policy author in Cumhuriyet newspaper and later worked in many positions such as columnist, interviewer and chief editor in Günaydın, Milliyet, Güneş, Tercüman, Yeni Şafak, Hürriyet, Zaman, Akşam, Posta and Sabah. As İsmail Cem was the general director of TRT he worked there as head of news office. Besides in various periods he worked as news interpreter for programs broadcasted in Star, ATV, TGRT, Show TV and NTV. He received the prize of Association of Journalists in 1968. He was a member of Board of Overseers in Okan University.
