Poet and writer (b. 6 October 1973, Afyon). She is originally from Fethiye and is the daughter of the writer İbrahim Ünal. She attended primary, secondary and high school in Ankara and graduated from Middle East Technical University, Department of Mathematics (1997). She worked as a teacher of mathematics, a broadcaster on radio and an editor. She did her graduate studies at Ankara University, Institute of Educational Sciences (2005). She has been living in Ankara since December 1980.
She began her literary career by translating from English for the review Hece in 1997. Her first poem with the title “Gözleri Kamaşanlar İçin Üç Kısa Şarkı” (Three Little Songs for Those Whose Eyes are Dazzled) appeared in the review Hece (1997). Her poems have also been published in the reviews Dergâh, Atlılar, Hece, İpek Dili and Kaşgar, as well as Son Duvar, Kırklar, Yasakmeyve, in which also her articles have been published. She collected her long stories, in which she insistently refused to be affected by a poet’s intellect and successfully reflected a certain mood in her second book Ademin Kızlarından Biri (One of the Adam’s Daughters). She concentrated especially on articles related to modern Turkish poetry. She has done research on the prominent representatives of Turkish poetry, such as Turgut Uyar, Sezai Karakoç, Ece Ayhan and Cahit Zarifoğlu. Besides this, she has written research articles on both story and novel genres and new storywriters.
