Hampartsum Gelenyan (Hamasdeğ)
Story writer (B. 1895, Elazig- D. 1966, Los Angeles, USA). He went to primary school at Nisan School in his village, Surp. He graduated from Getronagan School in Elaziğ (1911). He worked as a teacher for two years in Vartatil village; and immigrated to America with the suggestion of his father who had already immigrated there. He attended lectures at Columbia and Harvard University as a visiting student. He died in Los Angeles from heart attack. His stories were collected in the book Güvercinim Harput’ta Kaldı (1997) after his death.
