Poet and writer (b. 1453, Aydıncık / İçel - d. ?). He was the son of Hacı Genek Bey who had proved himself worthy during the conquest of İstanbul. He is also known as “Firdevsi the Tall”. He was educated in Bursa. It is rumored that he went to Iran after he wrote a satirical poem about Sultan Bayezid, who had him write Süleymanname (Book of Süleyman) and then burnt 80 volumes of it (originally 360 volumes).
Firdevs-i Rumi, whose poems are not considered important, wrote about fourteen works on several topics such as history, philosophy and geometry, and is known as "Turk Şehnamecisi" (The Turkish Official Court Poet) because of his work, Süleymanname (Book of Süleyman).
