Abdülhay (real name), Kafzâde Faizî
Biographer and Divan* poet (b. 1572, İstanbul - d. 1622). His real name was Abdülhay. He received his education at Madrasah Muslim School in which he later served as a teacher and judge. While he was one of the popular poets of his time, he was mainly known for his biographies.
WORKS:
Hasenat-ı Hasan (The Beauties of Hasan, a work on the Defense of Kanije Castle), Zübdedü-l-Eş'ar (Selected Poets-in this famous work, which carries the features of an anthology, examples from 514 poets from the 15th century are given), Divan* (eulogies, lyric poems, history and couplets), Leylâ vü Mecnûn (Leila and Mejnun), Sakinâme (Book of Odes).
