Ebulhayr Rumî
Writer (15th century). There is not much known about him. It is known that he has a three volumes work titled Saltuknâme. From this work we learn that he was under the service of Cem Sultan and with his order he traveled in Anatolia and Rumelia between 1474 and 80 and collected the saga of Sarı Saltuk. A part of the tales in this saga, were the tales that our author listened from the local intellectuals he met during his travelling. Some fairy tales involved in some of them. Ebulhayr Rumî wrote the work without changing what he listened from people and wrote it with a simple prose. This work was about the life, wars and oracles of 13th century Anatolian combatant Sarı Saltuk. This work is a precious source for the 15th century Turkish Language and an informative source for the 13th century Turkish History.
