Historian and poet (b. 1685, İstanbul - d. 1760). He was the son of Reisülküttab Mehmed Efendi (Küçük Çelebi). After receiving a good Madrasah Muslim School education, he worked as a professor and as a historian. He worked as a Muslim judge in Bursa and Medina, as a high-ranking religious official in Anatolia and Rumelia Chief Military Judge (1757-58) and as Sheikh-ul-islam (second in rank to the Grand Vizier, 1759). Beside his work in the field of history, he was known for his poems.

Divan (Divan*, 1851), Münşeât (Writing, 1851), Acaibü'l Letaif (The Wonders of Letaif, translation of the travel book by Hoca Gıyaseddinü'l Nakkaş in which he wrote his impressions of China, 1912), Tarih-i İsmail Asım Efendi (The History of İsmail Asım Efendi 1741, 1865).
