Woody Allen got his start in show
business at the age of 15 by writing jokes for a local newspaper and. He later
began writing jokes for talk shows but felt his jokes were wasted. His managers
Charles Joffe and Jack Rollins convinced him to do stand-up and tell his own
jokes.
After performing on stage for several
years, he was approached to write a screenplay for Warren Beatty to star in,
I'm Afraid of Getting Married (1965), and he would also take on a moderate role
