Researcher and writer (b. 1951, Güneyce / Rize). He attended Güneyce
Primary School (1960) and graduated from İstanbul İmam Hatip High School (1970)
and Kayseri Advanced Institute of Islam (1974). He worked as a teacher at
Şebinkarahisar and İspir High Schools. In 1977 he became as assistant of the
History of Sufism at Bursa Advanced Institute of Islam. He completed his
doctorate with is thesis İbn Teymiye’ye Göre İbn Arabi (İbn Arabi
According to İbn Teymiye) in 1983. He became an assistant professor in 1989 and
a professor in 1994. He works as an academician at Uludağ University, Faculty
of Theology, Department of History of Sufism. He is a member of the Writers
Union of Turkey.
His first essay, Onlar ve Biz (Them and Us) was published in the review
Hareket (May 1971). Later his works were published in reviews such as Hareket
(1970-80), Nesil (1978), Yönelişler (1983), Manevra
(1984), Uludağ Üniversitesi İlahiyat
Fakültesi Dergisi, Türk Edebiyatı,
Yedi İklim, İktisat Fakultesi and the newspapers Zaman, Yeni
Şafak. He collected the Foundation of Turkish National Culture Special Jury
Award with his research and study works. He received an honorable mention with
his work Zeynilerde Bir Sufi: Abdullatifi Kudsi (A Sufi in Zeyneriler:
Abdullatifi Kudsi) in a research competition that was held by the İslam review
in 1986. He collected the Writers Union of Turkey Research Award with his work Metinlerle
Günümüz Tasavvuf Hareketleri (Contemporary Actions of Sufism with Texts) in
2002.
