Journalist and writer (b. 1936,
İstanbul – d. 23 Ağustos 2012, İstanbul). He is the son of M. Necmettin
Deliorman (1897- 1973). He studied at Haydarpaşa High School (1955) and
İstanbul University, Faculty of Law. He graduated from İstanbul University,
Faculty of Literature, Department of History (1966). He worked as a
correspondent, redactor, writer and editor-in-chief at the newspapers Tan, Akşam, Ocak, Tercüman, Ortadoğu and Ekonomi and at the reviews Millî Yol and Toprak. Deliorman, who also served as the Director of the
Headquarters of the Guild of Intellectuals (1970- 75), administered the
Boğaziçi Publications and Bayrak Publications both of which he founded. He
published the reviews Türk Dünyası, Millî
Işık, Boğaziçi and Gurbette Bayrak.
He has published the newspaper Tarih since
1990 and Edebiyat since 1992.
His first article was published in the
children’s literature review Çocuk Sesi in
1947. Since then, his anecdotes, articles and research have been published in
the newspapers Akşam, Ekonomi, Orta Doğu,
Tercüman, Sabah and Son Havadis
and in the reviews Kopuz, Ocak, Toprak,
Millî Yol, Millî Işık, Boğaziçi, Bayrak and Orkun. He came first at the short story competition held by the
review Türk Sanatı in 1954 with his
short story Bir Kapı Açık Kaldı (A
Door Remained Open) and the Turkish National Culture Foundation Grand Award in
1974 with his research Ermeni
Komitecileri (Armenian Partisans). He is a member of the Journalists
Association, the Professional Association of Scientific and Literary Work
Owners of Turkey and the Guild of Intellectuals.
