Novelist and playwright (b. 1929,
Nallıhan / Ankara - d. 14 July 2020, Istanbul). She also uses the pen names such as Adalet Sümer, Adalet
Sümer Ağaoğlu, Parker Quinck and Remüs Telada. She attended the Ankara High
School for Girls and graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language,
History and Geography, Department of French Language and Literature (1950). She
worked as dramaturge at the Ankara Radio of the Turkish Radio and Television
Corporation, as the director of Radio Theater and as a program expert. He left
the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation in 1970, and wrote plays for radio
and theaters, and then novels and short stories. She still lives in İstanbul.
She collected the Turkish Language
Association Theater Award in 1974 with her play titled Üç Oyun (Three Plays), the Sait Faik Short
Story Award in 1979 with her short story titled Yüksek Gerilim (High Tension), the Sedat Simavi
Award in 1979, the Orhan Kemal and Madaralı Novel Awards with Bir Düğün
Gecesi (A Wedding Night) in 1980. Furthermore, she received the Türkiye İş
Bank Grand Award in 1992 with Çok Uzak
Fazla Yakın (Too Far Extremely Close). She was elected in 1994 as the
honorary author at the 13th TÜYAP Book Fair. Then, in 1995, she received the
Great Presidential Award of Culture and Art, and in 1997 the Aydın Doğan Novel
Award with her novel titled Romantik Bir
Viyana Yazı (A Romantic Vienna Summer). The publishing royalty of 6.000
Turkish Liras which she received in 1997 was a record of copyright fees under
the conditions of those years. Bir Düğün Gecesi (A Wedding Night) was translated into Czech and Bulgarian.
