Poet and writer (b. 8 June 1969, Ortaköy /
Aksaray). His real name is Mehmet Doğan. He attended the Devedamı Village
Elementary School, the Ortaköy High School, and graduated from Gazi University,
Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature. He
completed his master studies at Ankara University, Department of New Turkish
Literature, with the thesis "1921-1941 Yılları Arası Şiir Tartışmaları"
(Debates on Poetry Between the Years 1921 and 1941). He worked as a teacher of
Turkish language and literature between 1990 and 1997 at the Ahmet Yesevî High
School in Ankara. After 1998, he worked as a lecturer of Turkish language at
Gazi University.
His first essay "Kültür Kavramı
Üzerine" (On the Concept of Culture) was published in the review Mim
(Ankara, December 1989), and his later poems and essays were published in the
reviews A'raf, Polemik, Türkiye Günlüğü, Dergâh, Son Duvar, Ludingirra,
Defter, Hece, kitap-lık, Kaşgar, Virgül, Polemik, Lodos and Bahçe.
He was one of the founders of the reviews Mim (1989-1990, Ankara, 4
issues) and A'raf (1993-1994, Ankara, 4 issues), which he also edited.
He worked as the editor of the review Polemik (1992-1994, Ankara, 12
issues). He was one of the founders of the review Son Duvar (1997-1998,
Ankara, 16 issues), and undertook its editorship after the 5th issue. Between
1996 and 1998, he produced and presented the programs "Edebiyatın
İçinden" (From the Inside of Literature), "Yeni Yayınlar" (New
Publications) and "Haftanın Portresi" (The Portrait of the Week) on
the Radio Birlik. He received the Milliyet Literature Award with his survey Beş
Şair Beş Poetika (Five Poets, Five Poeticas) in 1993.
