Journalist-writer (b. 1945, Şanlıurfa - d. 18 October 2020, Istanbul) He was the child of a public servant and he spent his childhood in different
parts of Turkey.
During his youth, he played zither, cittern, baglama and violin in the casinos
of Ankara. He
once accompanied Zeki Muren a couple of times with his zither. Then he became a
journalist. After graduating from Vocational School on Journalism in Ankara, he began his
journalism career in 1974 as a photo reporter. Then he worked as police
reporter and parliament reporter. In 1978, he was transferred to Günaydın
newspaper. He has written columns under the name “Ninth Village”
in here. In 1987, he started to write his column at Sabah newspaper under the
name “Tenth Village”. He continued his career as a
columnist under the same title in Hürriyet newspaper. Also, his articles were
published in the weekends as they were written by his dog, Pako. The TV series
in TRT named as “Letters to Pako” was purchased by the television channels of
six EU countries, including BBC.
