Poet and
writer (b. 2 September 1933, Turnaovası village / Tirgovişte
(Cumaovası-Tirnovtsa) / Bulgaria). He
attended primary school in his village and secondary school in Cumaovası. He
started his high school education in Stara Zagora Turkish Teacher Training
School and finished at Razgrat Teacher Training School. He studied at Sofia
University, departments of Turkology and History and Philosophy. He worked as a
journalist, a teacher and for a while as a broadcaster on radio in Sofia. He moved
to Turkey in 1982. He served for 9 years as the Chairman of the Balkan and
Turkish Literature Association and he also established the review of this
association, Balkan Türklerinin Sesi, for
which he was editor for 6 years. He is a member of the Turkish Art and Culture
Association.
He became interested in
poetry at a very young age and he perfected his technique at university. This
period in Turkey is relevant to Bulgarian Turks and his poems in this period
voice the suffering that the Bulgarian Turks experienced. His articles and
poems have been published in Tuna
review, which he established and managed and also in the magazines Yeni Işık, Halk Gençliği, Eylülcü and Yeni Hayat.
