Poet and writer (B.
1866, Istanbul- D. 1905, England). He
also used the name Ali Sezâ. He studied in İstanbul
Faculty of Law for a while. He worked as an editor in Muhit newspaper. He was banished to
He followed Abdülhak Hamit ecole in his poems; he struggled with
Muallim Naci and his followers. His work Tarih-i Edebiyat-ı Osmaniye (1888) was considered as the first Turkish
Literature History. He translated an anthology from Turkish Literature into
French with Edmond Fazy and
published it as the Antologie des Poêmes d‘Amour Turc (Anthology
of Turkish Love Poems) (1905).
