Prof. Dr. Gökdeniz Neşer, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Deniz Bilimleri ve Teknolojisi Enstitüsü bünyesinde görev yapmaktadır. Çalışma alanları: Gemi İnşaatı, Kompozitler, Geri Dönüşüm Süreçleri, Mühendislik ve Teknoloji.
Lisans (İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, 1987), yüksek lisans (Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi, 1990) ve doktora (Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi, 1996) eğitimlerini tamamladı. Doktora tezi: "Gemi liman çarpışmasının analizi ve liman usturmaça sisteminin dizaynı" (1996).
Akademik kayıtlara göre 87 bilimsel yayını bulunmaktadır; bunların 36'sı Web of Science dizinlidir. Uluslararası yayın dizinlerinde 12 yayını kayıtlıdır.
