Writer (b. 1 January 1924, İstanbul). She has also
written under the pen name Fatma Kethüdaoğlu. She attended Namık Kemal Primary School and graduated from Edirne High School
and İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature,
Department of Turkology and French Philology. She started to work
on her PhD at the Institute of Oriental Studies in Hamburg but could not complete because of
personal reasons. She went to Paris with a
scholarship from the Association for the Organization of Training Courses in France while she was working at the Agriculture
Bank and underwent training on banking in Paris
and Nice. She was working in the Exchange Office of the Agriculture Bank when
she officially retired in 1974. Afterwards she worked in the book exportation
business.
Her first short story was published in the review Varlık in January 1989. Her short
stories, memoirs, interviews and travel notes, poems and prose translations
have been published in reviews such as Türk
Evi in New York, Güneş in Sweden,
Çağdaş Türk Dili in Ankara,
Kıyı in Trabzon and Varlık, Türk Dili, İnsancıl,
Şiir Ülkesi in İstanbul. Her long story for a film Bir Zamanlar Anadolu (Anatolia Once Upon a Time) was deemed worthy
to be published at a contest on “Tolerance” that was held by the Ministry of
Culture in 1995.
