Historian (b. 25 February 1938, İstanbul). He graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Chair of History of the Middle Ages in 1961. In 1963, he became an assistant at the same department. He became a doctor in 1969, an assistant professor in 1973 and a professor in 1980. During these years, he conducted research in Iran, England and Germany. He served in some administration posts at the faculty and served as the Head of the Department of History and vice dean. He still works at İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature as a lecturer of Middle Age History. He is a member of Turkish Historical Society and the Institute of Turkish Cultural Studies. He speaks English and Farsi.

He has also translated from English.
