Pedagogue and writer (b. 1 April 1917,
Zile / Tokat – d. 22 Aralık 1981, Ankara). He also wrote under the pen name
Şevki Durugöl. He attended Erzurum Primary Teacher School (1937) and Gazi
Institute of Education, Department of Literature in 1939. He served as a
teacher and director at elementary and high schools in Zonguldak, Kastamonu,
Burdur, Uşak, Muğla, Tire (1943-60) and Ankara (1960-1965). He worked as a
reporter at the Instruction and Training Committee (1960-65), as a teacher at
the Gazi Institute of Education and as the Chief of the Terminology Branch of
the Turkish Language Association (1960-67)
He wrote essays, conversations,
anecdotes and research for many reviews and newspapers from 1937. He became
known for his studies and research on Turkish Literature History and Turkish
Folklore. His critiques and book reviews were published in reviews such as Fikirler,
Ülkü, Şadırvan, Hisar, Varlık and Türk Dili etc.
