Critic (b. 1921, İstanbul - d. 31 October 1993).
She attended İstanbul Işık High School and graduated from Istanbul University,
Faculty of Literature, Department of English Language and Literature (1945).
She obtained her doctorate at the same university. She completed her assistant
professorship studies at Cambridge University (1956). In 1958, she went to
Erzurum for two years to establish the Department of English Philology. She
became professor in 1964 and retired in 1981.
Her critiques were published
in the reviews Yeni Ufuklar, Yeni Dergi, Birikim and Çağdaş Eleştiri.
She collected the Turkish Language Association Award in 1973 with her book Edebiyat
Kuramları ve Eleştirileri (Literary Theories and a Their Criticism, 1972)
and the Writers Union of Turkey Award in the essay-critique category in 1984
with Türk Romanına Eleştirel Bir Bakış (A Critical Glance at Turkish
Novels, 1983).
