Businessman. He was born
in Tarsus, Mersin on April 1st, 1944. He belongs to the third
generation of the agriculture and industry originated Karamehmet family. His
father was one of the presidents of Tarsus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Karamehmet family is
known as the first Turkish family in the region to start working in industry
after the non-Muslims. The Karamehmet family is business partners with the
Eliyeşil family which is very well-known in the Çukurova region, and the
families have clenched this partnership through marriages over the years.
Karamehmet family,
having earned their lives through agricultural production on fertile soils of Çukurova
for years, purchased the Çukurova Industrial Enterprises factory, the history
of which goes back to 1880, together with Eliyeşil family and took a step in
industry. These facilities, as one of the oldest and biggest textile complexes
of Turkey, had a production capacity for 50 cotton gins and 5 thousand spinners
in 1925. After a major modernization in 1932, the factory became the first
modern factory in our country.

established his first company under the name of Mehmet Emin Karamehmetoğlu Ticarethanesi
in 1966 when he was just 22 years old to be involved in import exports and
production.
The financial power of
Karamehmet family increased when they became the owners of three banks and
numerous companies in 1980s. In this period, when Mehmet Emin Karamehmet took
active role in the management, the group started production in all fields
including steel and detergent production. Çukurova Group, concentrating on
foreign trade in the 1980s, established their first companies in New York and
