Researcher of
literature and translator (b. 1925, Çorum). He attended primary school in Çorum
and completed his elementary education in İzmir and at İstanbul Kabataş High
School for Boys (1944). He discontinued his study at the School of Advanced
Economics and Commerce. Afterwards, he graduated from the Department of Turkish
Language and Literature at the same school (1954). He worked as a teacher of
literature at various schools in İstanbul. He received his PhD at the Sorbonne
University (1969). His PhD thesis was on “Fransızca’dan
Türkçe’ye Gelen Sözcüklerle İlgili İncelemeler ve Bu Konuda Sözlük”
(Research on Words That Came From French to Turkish and a Dictionary on the
Subject). He worked as a teacher at İstanbul University, School of Foreign
Languages (1970-80) after having returned to Turkey.
His poetry,
essays, interviews, short stories and translations were published in the
reviews Ayda Bir, Varlık, Türk Düşüncesi,
Ses, Hayat, etc. and in newspapers such as Yeni İstanbul, Vatan, Akşam, etc.
