Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şahin, Abdullah Gül Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi, Nanoteknoloji Mühendisliği bünyesinde görev yapmaktadır. Çalışma alanları: Fizik, Yoğun Madde 2:Elektronik Yapı, Elektrik, Manyetik ve Optik Özellikler, Elektronik yapı, arayüzeylerin.
Lisans (Selçuk Üniversitesi, 1994), yüksek lisans (Erciyes Üniversitesi, 1999) ve doktora (Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2005) eğitimlerini tamamladı. Doktora tezi: "Yarıiletken Kuantum Nokta Yapıların Elektronik Özelliklerinin İncelenmesi" (2005).
Akademik kayıtlara göre 67 bilimsel yayını bulunmaktadır; bunların 52'si Web of Science dizinlidir. Uluslararası yayın dizinlerinde 10 yayını kayıtlıdır.
