Writer (b. 1940,
İstanbul). She graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature,
Department of Sociology (1984). Her duty as a lecturer at the university was
terminated during the period of 12th March. She was a member of the Workers Party
of Turkey in 1961 and a founding member of Socialist
Workers Party of Turkey in 1974.
She
went abroad after the military coup on 12 September 1980. She returned back
home in 1992. She worked as a columnist in the newspaper Yeni Ortam, and
in Politika. She collected the Yunus Nadi Novel Award in 1993 with her
book titled Kedi Mektupları (Cat
Letters), the Sait Faik Short Story Award in 1993 with Elveda Alyoşa (Goodbye Alyoşa) and the Cevdet
Kudret Literature Award in 2004 with Erguvan Kapısı (Redbud Door).
