Historian of literature and poet (b. 23 February 1912, Muş - d. 4 August 1988, Ankara). He graduated from İstanbul
University, Faculty of
Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1934). He worked as a
literature teacher at Konya Teacher Training School
for Women and Ankara
Atatürk High
School (1936-63). He worked as instructor at Gazi
Institute of Education and then Ankara
University, Faculty of
Theology (1964). He began his career in writing with his poem Baharda Kar (Snow in Spring, 16
September 1929) published in the journal Türk
Dili that was published in Balıkesir. Beginning in his high school years,
his poems were published in the journals Ülkü
and Muhit (1937). Then he began to
research literature history. He wrote scientific sections in various
encyclopedias and his articles and review were published in various journals.
He was elected as a member of the Turkish Language Association in 1984. With
Münevver Ayaşlı, he won the 1984 Writers Union of Turkey Superior Service
Award, for his contributions to Turkish science, culture and art.
