Academician,
lecturer, researcher and writer. She was born on May 13, 1954 in Eskişehir. She
started her working life after graduating high school and worked as a civil
servant, engineer, bank officer and lecturer. Although she came first in
Eskişehir in the University Entrance Exam, she at continued second education at
the Chemical Engineering School of İ.T.İ.A. Because she had to work.
After
her graduation, she started to work as an engineer in a company that was one of
the pioneers of the textile industry in Istanbul. The extremely unfavourable
working conditions for female engineers in those years prompted her to pursue
other pursuits. In the meantime, she graduated with a degree from the
"German Program for Engineers", which was opened at the Goethe-Institut
for the first time and probably for the last time.
She became a foreign exchange expert by passing the exam
opened by a private bank. However, her desire to evaluate her engineering
education and to convey her experiences to the women engineers who came after her
led her to a new education. She graduated from Marmara University Atatürk
Education Faculty English Language Teaching Department in 1993 with a degree.
She taught at a secondary school for a short time and
then started to work as a lecturer at Eskişehir Osmangazi University,
Department of Foreign Languages. The lecture notes she prepared on technical
English were used for a long time in the department.
She
wrote her first book
"English for Economics and Management" in 2003 and taught it in the
Industrial Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering. In the same
year, she wrote the booklet named “What Kind of Citizen I am?”, which was
published as a publication of Eskişehir Osmangazi University and used for
public education.
One of
the events she held at the university is the "Respect to the Atatürk
Cycling Marathon", where they formed a cycling team for the first time in
a university and drove 210 kilometres from Eskişehir to Ankara. She planned and
implemented all the stages of this event and took part in the marathon in front
of her team.
While
working at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Faculty of Engineering, she attended
evening classes, studied Turkish Literature, completed her undergraduate degree
and received her master's degree in this field. She did her doctorate in Ankara
University DTCF Department of Philosophy, History of Science. She completed her
thesis titled “Women of Science in Turkey and Their Contribution to the
Development of Science” in 2009 and graduated with great success. Her thesis
was the first study on this subject in Turkey. In addition, when her book
"Atatürk's Engineer Daughters" was published, it was the first and
only study on her subject.
She
stated that Sabiha Rıfat Gürayman, first Turkish female engineer, was working
as the control engineer responsible for the Anıtkabir construction and
published an article about her. Later, she applied to the Chief of General
Staff for a photograph of Gürayman to be placed in Anıtkabir. After her
application was approved by the General Staff, the photograph was placed on the
Anıtkabir Hürriyet Tower in 2008.
Naymansoy,
who stated that she determined her academic purpose as "to carry out
pioneering works that have not been done before" and therefore strives to
improve herself constantly, recently graduated from Anadolu University Open
Education Faculty Public Relations and Publicity Associate Degree Program as an
Honour Student (2011). Naymansoy, who received the title of "Associate
Professor" in 2018, has carried out many projects on the environment and
women, and has written articles and books.
Explaining her purpose in life as
"only to be a good and productive person", Naymansoy stated that she
tried to be with the needy as much as possible throughout her life, that she worked as a volunteer teacher
in various institutions for this purpose and even tried to make sick children
in hospitals smile by being a clown.
Naymansoy, who says that if young people want to live in a better world,
they must first strive to be a better person, still continues her activities
and scientific studies for the benefit of society.
