Businessman, author
(B. 1929, Istanbul - D. August 25th, 2001, Istanbul). He graduated
from Istanbul Technical University as professional machine engineer on 1951.
Till 1954, he worked as sanitary engineer in Carrier Corporation’s Turkey's representative
office and became a specialist. In 1954, upon the request of businessman İshak
Alaton, he became the co- partner of Alarko Unlimited Liability Company. Since
that time, he was the co-president, together with İshak Alaton, at Alarko
Unlimited Liability Company, which developed with each passing day and became a
holding company. Besides his duties in Alarko, he was active and took place in
board of directors and consultancy committees of foreign and national
organizations and associations like TÜSİAD, DEİK, MESS, Loyd Foundation, Sisav,
Rotary, Lions, Propeller, Assembly of Istanbul Chamber of Industry,
Association of Tourism Investors, AIESEC and etc. At the same time, he held the
presidency of Turkey-Belgium DEIK and TOKYAD (Association of Cooperative
Housing). He gave lectures on
organizational activities in MBA department at Yeditepe University. He was killed on August
25th, 2001 by a person named Yener Yermez in Eyüp Cemetery. He was
married, had two children and six grandchildren.
His articles
on business management, organization and economics were published on the
Turkish Daily News and Akşam newspapers weekly and on Bab-ı Ali journal
on monthly basis. One of his favorite hobbies was engaging with the problems of
young people's education. In 1984, he was given the title of honorary PhD degree
by Istanbul Technical University. In
1990, he was the honorary general consul of the
Republic of the Philippines.
