Storywriter and novelist (b. 1922, İstanbul - d. 23 July 2012, Istanbul). She
attended Kandilli School for Girls (1938) and graduated from İstanbul Teacher
Training School, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1946). She
served as a literature teacher at Buca (İzmir),
Çorlu (Tekirdağ), Kütahya and İstanbul High Schools. She worked at the İstanbul
City Public Library for a short period. She retired when she was a teacher in
the Jewish School. (1973)
Her
early works were in free verse and were published in the review Yedigün (1947-48), but then she
concentrated on writing novels and short stories. Her short stories and
articles were published in the newspaper Yeni
Ortam and the reviews Geçit,
Yeditepe, Varlık, Kemalist Ülkü and Tiryaki.
She became very well known for her use of realistic and courageous language in
her works in which she narrated the lives of intellectuals, families and
relationships between men and women in Turkish society.
